We are Al and Shelain, a couple who have traveled to a variety of places, from Raleigh, NC, to the U.S. Virgin Islands, London, and northern Italy. Our journey has been full of twists and turns, but it all led us back to where it began — Crosby, Minnesota. We’re thrilled to have taken over Hard Water Lounge in May 2025, a place that holds a special spot in the hearts of both locals and visitors.

Back in 2019, Al helped a friend create and build Hard Water Lounge with the dream of managing it one day. That same summer, Shelain came home from college and started working at the bar — and that’s where our story began. From co-workers to close friends, and eventually partners in life and business, we’ve poured ourselves into this vision.

After moving to Raleigh and then the U.S. Virgin Islands, we came home to Minnesota — and when the opportunity arose to take the reins at Hard Water Lounge, we didn’t hesitate.

Our mission is to create an elevated yet welcoming space where locals and travelers alike can gather, unwind, and explore a cocktail experience like no other in the area. Many of the drinks on our menu pay homage to the places we've lived and the flavors we've fallen in love with along the way. 

Our goal is to introduce innovative flavor profiles that inspire our guests to expand their palates and discover new, expertly crafted cocktails — each one made with purpose, passion, and a touch of adventure.
